Tomahawks are cool.
But really: I bought this at some gun shop for like 30 bucks because it looked pimp and I decided I needed it. I have not regretted it yet. The handle is carbon-glass-plastic magic and pretty durable, but also pretty slippery. To get a better grip, I threw some tiny rope around it – I like arts and crafts, sparkles and rainbows, and all that. The head of the axe is made of some sort of steel and has a good weight to it. Once you put your hands on this thing, you won’t want to put it down.
WHAT: SOG Fasthawk (OG finish) ’tactical’ tomahawk.
WHEN: CHOPPING TIME. It’s a fun tool to play with and is good for camping or anytime you’ll be outside for a while.
WHERE: Keep one in the car, one in the house, one in your closet – wherever you’ll need a tiny axe with head-splitting capabilities.
HOW: It comes with a canvas-y sheath that can attach to a belt, otherwise SOG makes a hard nylon sheath for attachment a bit more protection of the axe head.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION: You can sharpen this tomahawk pretty quickly, however; it’s soft. Don’t use it to cut any serious wood. This is for throwing at trees and for splitting skulls. The point on the ‘back’ end of the axe head can be sharpened into a pretty mean spike (I RECOMMEND).
